Hon. Segun Olulade, widely celebrated as Eleniyan, is an accomplished public servant, corporate executive, entrepreneur, author, and renowned youth development advocate whose distinguished career spans more than three decades of transformational leadership across governance, business, technology, and philanthropy. His remarkable ability to inspire people, build institutions, and create sustainable opportunities has earned him recognition as one of Nigeria’s most influential voices in leadership and nation building.
Born on 20 July 1971 in Ejinrin, Epe Division of Lagos State, Nigeria, Hon. Olulade received his early education in his hometown before obtaining a degree in Economics from Lagos State University. Committed to continuous personal and professional development, he has also earned certifications in Marketing Communications and Public Resource Management, equipping him with the strategic expertise that has defined his outstanding career in both the public and private sectors.
His political journey was marked by exceptional service as a two term Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe Constituency II. During this period, he chaired several strategic committees including Chairman Committee on Information, Strategy, Security and Publicity between 2011 – 2015 and Chairman House Committee on Health Services between 2015 – 2023. He became widely respected for championing progressive legislation, including a landmark motion promoting the teaching of indigenous languages in schools, which stands him out as the First Nigerian lawmaker to successfully move a legislative motion in an indigenous Nigerian language, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to preserving the nation’s rich cultural heritage while promoting the relevance of indigenous languages within legislative practice and public governance. Hon. Olulade is also the First Nigerian lawmaker to institutionalise a constituency radio programme as an official feedback and accountability platform through “Eleniyan Gbode”, creating an innovative channel for continuous engagement between himself and the people he represents.
The initiative strengthened participatory democracy by giving constituents and Nigerians at large a direct voice in governance, policy discussions, and community development.
In February 2024, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR appointed Hon. Olulade as Executive Director of Customer Centricity and Marketing at Galaxy Backbone Limited, Nigeria’s foremost digital infrastructure institution under the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy. Since joining the Executive Management Team, he has played a strategic role in advancing customer engagement, institutional partnerships, brand visibility, and stakeholder confidence, contributing significantly to one of the most remarkable periods of growth in the organisation’s history.
Under the current Executive Management, Galaxy Backbone has expanded broadband connectivity across Nigeria through Project 774, strengthened the nation’s sovereign cloud infrastructure, scaled the One Government Cloud, expanded GovMail to serve more than one hundred thousand public servants, reinforced national cybersecurity operations, deepened strategic partnerships, expanded fibre infrastructure, and earned numerous national recognitions.
Hon. Olulade’s leadership has been instrumental in positioning the organisation as a trusted digital backbone for the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Beyond operational achievements, he has become the architect of a distinctive organisational culture centred on excellence, accountability, innovation, and customer satisfaction. His widely embraced philosophy, Think GBB, has evolved into a defining institutional culture that inspires employees to prioritise excellence, ownership, collaboration, and service. He also introduced the celebrated Kulele performance culture, encouraging business development excellence through recognition and healthy competition, while establishing the Customer Centricity and Marketing Awards of Excellence to reward outstanding performance across multiple categories. His strategic communication initiatives have further elevated Galaxy Backbone’s national profile and strengthened its reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading public technology institutions.
Alongside his public service career, Hon. Olulade has demonstrated exceptional entrepreneurial leadership as Chief Executive Officer of Kent and Kelly Limited, successfully driving business growth, creating employment opportunities, and contributing to economic development.
His enduring legacy, however, is perhaps most visible through the EleniyanCares Leadership Foundation, an organisation he established to nurture future leaders and expand opportunities for young people across Nigeria. Guided by the belief that leadership must create lasting impact, the Foundation has become one of the country’s most respected platforms for youth empowerment, leadership development, and community transformation.
Through the Foundation, more than one hundred and sixty five thousand young people have benefitted from structured mentorship programmes. Twelve leadership development workshops and seven legislative capacity building programmes have equipped emerging leaders with practical knowledge in governance, civic participation, and public leadership. The Foundation has awarded seventy five scholarships to deserving students, donated computer equipment to educational institutions to promote digital literacy, supported entrepreneurs with grants and business development initiatives, provided tools and equipment to artisans, supported orphanage homes, distributed relief materials to elderly citizens, and donated wheelchairs, musical instruments, and specialised equipment to homes caring for persons with disabilities. Strategic collaborations with globally respected institutions including the London School of Economics and the Leadership Institute in Virginia, United States of America, have further strengthened the Foundation’s international outlook and impact.
An accomplished author and publisher, Hon. Olulade is the author of the national bestseller Eleniyan Perspective: Thoughts of Hon. Segun Olulade, featuring a foreword by His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. The book presents his reflections on leadership, governance, and national development. He is also the publisher of EleniyanCares Magazine, a publication dedicated to promoting leadership, innovation, and social impact.
His extraordinary contributions to public service, youth empowerment, and community development have earned him more than two hundred local and international honours, including Outstanding Lawmaker of the Year, Honorary Citizen of the State of Georgia in the United States of America, and the Special Gold Award of the Chartered Institute of Public Resources Management and Politics, Ghana.
